Hockey
Hockey is played by both boys and girls in our School. To facilitate the needs of the Hockey lovers, the School has a Hockey Field that matches international standards.
The School provides ample opportunities to the pupils to take part at various State, IPSC and National level tournaments as a result of which every year many pupils from various age categories get an opportunity to participate at the SGFI tournaments.
Mrs. Kamaljeet Kaur has been coaching our pupils for the past two decades. Under her expert guidance the pupils have won many tournaments for the School.

Divya Agarwal Shines on National Stage: Selected for Assam Hockey Team
Divya Agarwal of Class 8 represented the Assam Hockey Team in the 14th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship 2024. This prestigious achievement was a moment of immense pride for both Divya and The Lawrence School. Wearing the Assam colors and competing at such a high level was truly a dream come true for her.
The championship, held in a league format, provided Divya with invaluable experience and reinforced her belief that this is just the beginning of her journey. She views this opportunity as a stepping stone to learn, grow, and emerge stronger in future competitions.
Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2024
The highly anticipated Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2024, held from November 12th to 13th, concluded with a decisive victory for the school team. Organized by the Hockey Nilgiris Association and St. Hilda’s School, the event featured strong participation from multiple schools across the Nilgiris, highlighting exceptional skills and a spirited competitive atmosphere.
After two days of intense competition, The Lawrence School, Lovedale, emerged victorious in both the under-14 and under-19 categories, showcasing exceptional teamwork and determination. The tournament underscored the growing enthusiasm for hockey among young players. With the impressive performance, The Lawrence School has set a high standard for future tournaments. This event not only celebrated sportsmanship but also fostered community spirit, bringing everyone together through a shared passion for hockey.
CBSE South Zone Hockey Tournament
The Lawrence School,Lovedale participated in the CBSE south zone Hockey tournament at Sachidananda School, Mettupalayam in the U-14 and U-19 category for both girls and boys from the 21st of September 2024 to the 26th of September 2024.
The U-19 boys team bagged the 3rd Position and the best midfielder award was presented to Vidur Varshan.
CM Trophy Hockey Tournament 2024
The CM Trophy Hockey Tournament 2024, held on September 16th and 17th, concluded with a resounding victory for the school team. Organized by the Hockey Nilgiris Association, the event saw enthusiastic participation from several schools across the Nilgiris, with teams showcasing exceptional skills and competitive spirit.
After two days of intense matches, The Lawrence School, Lovedale, emerged as champions in the under-19 category, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and determination. This victory has set a high benchmark for future tournaments, reaffirming the school's commitment to excellence in sports.
Lawrence School Celebrates Success at IPSC U-14 Girls' Hockey: National Selections and Best Goalkeeper Award
The Under-14 Girls' Hockey team participated in the IPSC Hockey Tournament at Daly College, Indore, from 30th August to 6th September 2024. The Lawrence School's hockey team secured 3rd position.
It is a matter of great pride that two talented girls have been selected to represent IPSC at the SGFI nationals.

Inter-School Girls' Hockey Tournament
The Inter-School Girls' Hockey Tournament was held at St Hilda’s School from 17th to 18th November 2023, showcasing a dynamic display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship among participating teams.
In a commendable achievement, both our Under-19 and Under-14 girls' teams emerged as champions, illustrating their prowess on the hockey field. Additionally, our Under-17 girls' team exhibited remarkable performance and sportsmanship, finishing as the runners-up in their category.
Ananya Niranjan Bhargava, a talented player from Class 10, stood out as the ‘Best Player’ of the Tournament. She earned this recognition due to her exceptional skills, unwavering dedication, and outstanding abilities.
CBSE South Zone Hockey Tournament
The CBSE South Zone Hockey Tournament was held at Satchidananda Jyothi Niketan, Kallar, from 6th to 9th November 2023 for the Under-19 Boys’ category.
Abhimanyu Bhargava was awarded Best Attacker, and Ritvic excelled as Best Midfielder. The team secured the Second Runner-Up position, reflecting their dedication and skill.

Miss Devadason Memorial Girls Hockey Tournament Report
The Miss Devadason Memorial Girls Hockey Tournament was held on 14 October 2023, at St. Hilda's School in Ooty. Schools from the region gathered for a day of competition, skill, and sportsmanship.
Our school's girls showed exceptional teamwork, dedication, and skill by defeating every opponent they faced. Their steadfast determination and excellent gameplay made them the tournament champions.
Each match saw our team outperforming their counterparts, playing defensively and offensively with finesse.
Our School team won the tournament and we are proud of our Girls. Thanks to St. Hilda's School for hosting the Event. Our team is excited about future challenges.
IPSC- Under 14 Girls Daly Collage, Indore
From September 9th to 11th, 2023, the Daly College in Indore held the Under-14 IPSC Hockey Tournament for girls. In this report, we will discuss the performance of our School's team, the conditions provided for the players, and the areas of improvement the coach identified.
Our School's hockey team secured the 4th position.
Third-Position Match: The team faced Vidya Devi Jindal School and, unfortunately, lost by a slim margin of 1-0.
It's a matter of great pride that two talented girls from our School have been selected to represent at the SGFI nationals.
The hospitality extended by Daly College in terms of accommodation and meals was commendable and highly appreciated by our team.
