Cricket
Cricket is one of the most popular sport in our School. The School offers world-class infrastructure with 7 semi-indoor Cricket nets where 42 players can train at a time. We also have Bowling Machine with a speed of 150 kmph for practice.
The School provides good exposure by sending pupils to play at tournaments like the IPSC, Inter-District, TNCA and the All India Inter Academy Cricket tournaments.
For the past 8 years, Mr. Devendra Kumar has been coaching our pupils and under his able guidance our School Cricket team brought many laurels to the School.
Activities
CM Trophy Cricket Tournament State-Level
Natheesh.T, V.Anunandh, V.Vidhushen,N. Shaurya and T.Tanishk of The Lawrence School, Lovedale represented Nilgiris in CM Trophy Cricket State championship at the Nehru Stadium, Chennai from the 10th to 14th of October -2024. School Coach Mr.Devendra kumar was appointed as the District Coach for the above tournament.
CM’s Trophy Cricket Championship District-Level
The CM’s trophy cricket championship which was conducted in a knockout format was held at our school grounds.
A total of 34 teams participated in the tournament. The U-19 team of The Lawrence School,Lovedale played 4 rounds and won all the matches to reach the finals. The thrilling final was played against Riverside Public school, Kotagiri. Despite a slow start with two wickets lost at the beginning, Anunandh and Vedhushen kept up a good partnership and dragged the team to a total of 82 runs for 5 wickets in 8 overs.
Batting next Riverside got 11 runs in the very first over. The shaky start was compensated by a brilliant run out by Vedhushen which helped the team bounce back into the game. From there our cricketers never let the opponent come back. The team completely dominated the game and kept Riverside under 60 runs. The final score by Riverside was 54 runs for 8 wickets in the 8 overs.
Their performance has allowed the school to make an indelible mark in the sport of cricket.
